Labradoodle Grooming and Fast Facts
If you want a great dog that doesn’t shed much, is smart and loving, is great for those with allergies and doesn’t get really smelly then you want a labrodoodle. The labrodoodle is a breed that was intentionally cross bred in the 1970s in Australia between a regular Poodle and a Labrador Retriever. Originally they were bred because the original breeder wanted to breed a dog that would not irritate her husband’s allergies. Now they are a breed all their own and highly desirable companions. There coat can range from soft to wiry and straight or curly (usually curly) and range in length between about 4 to 6 inches. These dogs love the water, are excellent swimmers and make the ideal dog for the nature lover. The best labradoodle grooming is when you keep their coats brushed well and get a trim on their coat a couple of times a year.
People that own labradoodle dogs know how great this breed really is. This combination makes a great breed that is active without being aggressive, sweet, social, makes a great as a guard dog for its owner, very clever and intelligent and loyal. This breed of dog does very well with obedience training. Many people with allergies can enjoy the company of this breed because they do not produce the dander other breeds do. I am sure you are familiar with the odor dogs can get from activity and being outdoors. The labrodoodle does not produce that strong odor so they are very pleasant to be around. When proper labradoodle grooming is performed then there is even less odor produced by them.
When labradoodle grooming and breeding is done properly, these dogs are a very healthy breed with few health issues. Some of the health issues that this breed may experience are PRA (which can lead to blindness), hip dysplasia and possibly hypothyroidism. These health issues are derived from the original breeds from which this breed was started. When you perform the proper labradoodle grooming, these dogs hardly shed at all as they are a low to non shedding breed. With proper care and love, this dog breed will bring you a lot of joy and love as a companion and friend for 13 to 15 years.
